Major throwback.
February 14th 2011, I realised the therapeutic benefits I got from lifting and how it was also a way of releasing pent up aggression I had from my wide list of failures.
I dedicated my time and effort into being in the gym 6 days a week. Let me make note this wasn’t your typical globo-gym, commercial styled fitness first gym. Vince & Roz’s gym. An old school rundown warehouse that was a bodybuilders paradise.
6 months into training I changed considerably. I heard about a friend of friend who had recently competed in a bodybuilding competition. That night I googled “natural bodybuilding” and the next day I printed out the contest entry form on my wall.
I knew there were serious bodybuilders at Vince and Roz’s gym, but none other than Ryan Laos. I still remember walking through the corridors with a flashy yellow sign “Ryan Laos 2008 Mr. World Trains here”. So I scheduled my training around the same time as Ryan to watch how a Mr. World trained .I felt relentless training in the midst of competitive naturals as I was gaining credibility and studying Ryan, doing my best to replicate his sheer intensity.
It was the first in my life that I had self-belief in myself to achieve something big and realised the power of VISUALISATION.
Fast forward to 2014, after 6 bodybuilding competitions, I finally took a 1st place trophy home.
Without the bodybuilding experiences – I doubt I would be a coach or have my very own @underground_strength_gym
